Food is also shared in Prague by the collectives FNB Praha and FNB Praha Pátek.
We are an autonomous group of people who share the same values. We come together on the basis of voluntary association.
We are a political collective. We put the values of equality and mutual aid into practice, whether it's cooking and distributing food to everyone without distinction, participating in protests, or organizing cultural events.
We are non-hierarchical. No one is in charge; we make decisions democratically and by consensus.
The Food Not Bombs collective originated in the 1980s in the USA, combining anti-nuclear activism and protests against food waste and unequal access to food.
We are united by the idea that such a situation is unjust and absurd. In modern society, hunger and hardship are no longer caused by scarcity, but by poor distribution. That’s why we are here. We share food with anyone who is hungry. For us, sharing food itself is a form of political activism. We are not a charity. What we do is not conventional food aid but a way to activate people and public spaces.
Today, much more food is produced than is needed by the global population, but instead of reaching those in need, these surpluses rot in landfills.
Anyone who likes what we do can get involved. Just contact us on social media and come cook with us or collaborate in other ways. We also welcome any other support, whether material or financial.
